Viola J. Dierkens, age 86, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal life Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born February 22, 1928, in Assumption to Joseph Sr. and Barbara (Mossing) Snyder. Viola attended St. Mary's School in Assumption and was a 1946 graduate of Central Catholic High School. On June 19, 1948, she married Jack Dierkens, and he preceded her in death in 1995. Viola worked 15 years for Parker Hannifin in Metamora, retiring in 1995.

In her early years, she loved roller skating and a neighborhood game of softball. Viola was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption. She loved the outdoors - tending to her garden and flowers and keeping up her yard.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tom Dierkens, Larry (Karen) Dierkens, Brinda (Michael) Miller, Patty (Rick) Blair, and George (Kara) Dierkens; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Fr. Frederick Snyder and sister, Pat Bronson.

Besides her husband, Jack, Viola was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth "Squeak"; 4 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Family and friends may visit Friday, December 5, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, December 6, from 12 p.m. (noon) until 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 1 p.m. with Fr. Robert Holden presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Meals-On-Wheels.
