Jean Harriet Preuss, 82, of Palisade, formerly of Elk River, died at the Aitkin Hospital on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000.

She was born in Royalton on Jan. 6, 1918, to Hugh and Ione (Leigh) McLeod, and attended school at Vawter, Royalton and St. Cloud Tech. Mrs. Preuss was a bookkeeper at Elk River Ready Mix.

On March 30, 1950, she married Art Preuss.

Mrs. Preuss’ interests included playing cribbage, bowling, birds, gardening, fishing and playing pull tabs.

The funeral service was Oct. 5 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elk River, officiated by Deacon Fred St. Jean. Interment was in the church cemetery. Scott Kelly, Doug and Brent McLeod, David Preuss, Johnny Johnson and Rodney Burns served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Preuss is survived by her husband, Art of Palisade; daughters, Pat Kelly of Las Vegas, Mary Marchand of Cottage Grove and Kathy Preuss of Big Lake; and sons, Jim Jagelski of Hill City, Dan of Farmington, Mike of Minneapolis and Tom of Elk River.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark and brother, Norman.
