When her mother died she was farmed out to relations. In her mid teens she lived with her sister Rose and joined the A.T.S. when war broke out. She had a very miserable childhood with a wicked stepmother. She served in the army on the predictors and AK AK guns. She met her husband in Europe during the later stage of the war and they married in 1946. She worked for Sainsbury's in the 1960's but when they moved to Royston she became a Traffic Warden. After her husband died she left her job in the hope that she would be able to take things a bit easier but died just 6 months later. Some notes from the War Diaries of 2 Company Continental Group B.A.O.R. 1945.
